The Regional Durable Solutions Secretariat (ReDSS) has conducted a Solutions analysis in Ethiopia using the ReDSS Solutions framework. The aim of the study is to assess the conditions for local integration for refugees in Gambella and Somali region - and to identify progress, key opportunities, gaps and challenges. The specific objectives are to:
Provide Solution analysis using the ReDSS framework on refugees in Ethiopia to inform multi-sectorial rights and needs based programing
Support a common understanding of ‘what is a durable solution’ and how/where key stakeholders can contribute their expertise to monitor an agreed set of indicators of durable solutions
Provide specific recommendations on how to improve local integration and self-reliance programing and policies
Provide specific recommendations on how to improve durable solution coordination
This workshop will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to share critical feedback and complement the draft analysis. More specifically we hope that this analysis will contribute to the ongoing CRRF discussion specifically on the implementation of Ethiopia’s pledges relating to further improved rights and service delivery to refugees and the IGAD comprehensive plan of action. It will also contribute to any other relevant processes at national and regional levels to support the search of durable solutions. The study recommendations will primarily target practitioners to inform better programming.
